If you have browsed a lot of Internet sites, you have probably stumbled upon some error message now and again. An error could take place in case the server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you must log in in order to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you aren't allowed to access some webpage (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which is not on the server (Error 404). Receiving such messages may sometimes be frustrating since the pages have nothing in common with the actual Internet site. That’s why some website hosting service providers allow you to apply your own error pages which will match the style of your own website and which could have any content that you would like - information why the error has occurred, a suggestion how to proceed or even some witty comment. This type of function will help you keep the visitor on the website no matter the error and the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting

You will be able to set up personalized error pages for each of your Internet sites effortlessly if you use any of our Linux shared hosting. This can be done via the Hosted Domains part of the Hepsia CP, provided with all accounts and once you go there, you could set your custom made pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You must upload the files to your account ahead of time and input the links to them through the process. This feature could be de-activated at any time and the options you will be able to choose from are a conventional page from our system or a default Apache web server page. Tailor-made error pages could be set with an .htaccess file as well. The file should be placed in the domain or subdomain folder and it must incorporate some system code and links to the pages. If you aren't tech-savvy, you can copy the whole content required for the file from our Help section.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting that we supply support personalized error pages and it will not take more than a few clicks inside your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel where you'll need to type in the links to the custom-made files via very simple drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Needless to say, you have to upload them to your account before that. If you do not need to use this function at some point, you can easily disable it just as fast and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable if your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to activate the customized error pages. The file should include a particular line of code and a link for every single error type and you can find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
