Once in a while you may need to block certain third parties from accessing your websites. There are plenty of automatic bots which crawl the Internet, for instance, and generate fake visits and traffic. There's also spammers who leave links to suspicious websites as comments to website articles. This type of things can drastically undermine your work, simply because no one likes to visit a website with countless fake comments, not to mention that the increased traffic from both spammers and bots can create high load on the web server where your site is hosted, which can result in the site not functioning properly. Among the most effective solutions in such cases is to block the IPs which generate the fake traffic, so as to be certain that the visits to your Internet site are real.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with us and you want to block one or a few IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a pretty simple interface, you can restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to perform that is to log inside to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You shall not need to do anything challenging if you want to block a whole network - you'll just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed within the exact same section, so you will be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with just a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, offered with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will enable you to solve the problem with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It comes with an IP blocking tool where you could add IP addresses with only a couple of mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have in the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just have to choose the one you need and then input the IP address which needs to be blocked. If you would like to block an entire range, a C-class network for instance, you just need to type the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you shall not need to enter them by hand. Since all the IPs that you include in this section will be listed, you could easily unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the given IP.
